Engagement Session at Chapman’s Coffee House — Gavyn & Katie
Some love stories are best told over coffee—and this one started just down the road in New Concord, Ohio.
Gavyn and Katie, two fellow Muskingum University alumni, have been together for nearly a decade. They’ve built a life around laughter, shared memories, and strong coffee—so it made perfect sense to capture their engagement session in a place that holds so much meaning: Chapman's Coffee House.
Gavyn used to work at Chapman’s during college, and it quickly became their go-to hangout. Even now, years later, they still compare every new coffee shop to this one. So when they reached out about doing something personal and unique for their session, returning to their old stomping grounds felt just right.
From the moment they stepped behind the counter to make their drinks together, I knew this shoot was going to be something special. Gavyn taught Katie how to make her favorite order while both of them laughed through every step. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like a snapshot of their everyday love—real, relaxed, and full of joy.
After making their drinks, we explored the shop together, sharing stories from their college days, wedding plans for next year, and everything in between. My favorite shot? The two of them sitting hand-in-hand, coffees in hand, under the Chapman’s sign—completely at home with one another.
This shoot is a reminder that your engagement session doesn’t have to be traditional to be timeless. Whether it's your favorite coffee shop, a hiking trail you love, or the place you first met, choosing a location with meaning can bring your photos to life.
If you're in Zanesville, Cambridge, New Concord, or anywhere in Southeastern Ohio, and you’re dreaming of a session that reflects your unique love story—I’d love to help capture it.
