There’s something incredibly special about maternity shoots — that short window of time where anticipation, love, and strength all live in the same breath. This particular session was a calm, intimate experience that reminded me exactly why I do what I do.
This mama is expecting her third little one, and let me tell you — she knew how to do pregnancy with grace. The entire session was peaceful and full of presence, which made it easy to focus on the connection between her and her partner. Their love for each other and excitement for their growing family came through in every single frame.
You won’t believe this… we shot this entire session in my living room. Seriously. It may not sound glamorous, but it turned out to be the perfect choice. The couple wanted minimal, homey, white-wall vibes — and my space just happened to check all those boxes. I’ll be sharing a video soon about how I transformed the space for this shoot, so stay tuned for that peek behind the scenes!
We scheduled the session for early evening, hoping to catch the softest natural light. Despite stormy weather all week, the clouds parted just long enough to let golden light stream through the big front window, casting the kind of glow you just can’t fake. Mother Nature was definitely on our side.
The couple kept things simple — jeans and a white tee — and honestly, that choice made the session even more impactful. No distractions. Just quiet moments, natural smiles, and so much emotion. One of my favorite shots from the gallery is the two of them, hands on her belly — not because it’s the most dramatic photo, but because it captures that quiet closeness of being just inches away from someone you’ve yet to meet, but already love with your whole heart.
I’ll be honest: this was my very first maternity session. It wasn’t something I’d originally planned to offer, but after this experience, I know it won’t be my last. There’s a beauty in these sessions that’s unlike anything else — a kind of joy that’s quiet but deep. And getting to document that for this couple was such a privilege.
The best part? These two are people I met through my fiancé’s work — and they were the first to trust me with maternity photos. Their encouragement meant the world. After sending their sneak peeks, I received the sweetest message:
“Those are exactly the lighting/edit I was looking for. Thank you, Kaitlynne!! You’re very sweet, and you do a great job. 🩵”
If you’re reading this and thinking, I’ve never had maternity photos taken, or this isn’t my first baby so I don’t need them — I get it. But here’s what I’ll say: you never know when it will be your last pregnancy until it’s over. These moments, these memories — they deserve to be captured. Whether it’s your first, your third, or a moment entirely your own, you deserve to be in the photo.
If you’re expecting, celebrating, or simply want to freeze a meaningful chapter of your life, I’d be honored to capture it with you.
Let’s create something you’ll always be able to look back on.
Let’s talk about your next session — whether it’s maternity, graduation, or just you being you.
